What our customers say
Which footmuff fits in the carrycot and infant car seat?
A newborn footmuff is shorter and narrower than a buggy footmuff. Our small footmuffs fit all Group 0 bucket seats, i.e., the infant car seat, as well as soft carrycots and hard shells, the stroller's carrycot. The straps run through the harness slots, accommodating up to a 5-point harness. For Mucki® 2.0, Theo, Benno 2.0, and Oskar, the seat section is extended (patent): the small footmuff fits better in the bucket seat and lasts longer. The zipper extends to the bottom, allowing you to place your baby inside comfortably and take them out quickly.
The original for newborns: Mucki® 2.0 small footmuff
The Mucki® 2.0 small footmuff is our best-selling footmuff. It is certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, features a cozy outer material, reflective clip-up closures, and a windproof ADA® bottom. The back section opens with Velcro so it fits any harness system. The bear face makes it a footmuff that many parents recognize immediately. It fits in infant car seats, Group 0 car seats, soft carrycots, and carrycots.
Lambskin footmuff for newborns: Theo small footmuff
If you prefer natural materials, choose the Theo small footmuff made of genuine lambskin. It is windproof and water-repellent; the front section can be removed, allowing you to continue using the lambskin as a seat liner in your infant car seat or carrycot. Theo also features the patented extended seat section and is compatible with up to 5-point harnesses.
Footmuff in the infant car seat: how the harness should fit correctly
In the car, your baby should be in the infant seat without a thick snowsuit, as a bulky jacket causes the harness to be too loose. A small footmuff solves this: the harnesses run through the harness slots and lie directly against the body, with warmth provided from the outside. If the car is warm, unzip it slightly so your baby does not sweat.
How long does a newborn footmuff last?
Usually up to about 6 months, i.e., as long as your baby is in an infant car seat or carrycot. Afterward, you switch to the footmuff for strollers and buggies for the sports seat. If you want to buy only one footmuff from the start: the Felix 2.0 is a 2-in-1 footmuff for 0 to 36 months. With a zipper at the bottom, the small footmuff transforms into a long footmuff for the buggy in seconds.
Small footmuffs for newborns: prices, material, and production
Our small footmuffs for infant car seats and carrycots cost between €59.99 (Oskar, Carezza) and €99.99 (Theo made of lambskin). The Mucki® 2.0 small footmuff is priced at €98.99, and the Benno 2.0 at €69.99. Mucki® 2.0 and Benno 2.0 are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified and windproof; Benno 2.0 is additionally water-repellent. Oskar and Carezza are manufactured in Germany. For the transitional period, we offer the bucket seat insert cushion with teddy lining and a removable front section for infant car seats, carrycots, and soft carrycots.
Frequently asked questions
Which footmuff fits into the infant car seat?
A small footmuff for Group 0 bucket seats. Our small footmuffs like Mucki® 2.0, Theo, or Benno 2.0 fit all Group 0 infant car seats, soft carrycots, and hard shells with up to a 5-point harness.
Is it safe for my baby to ride in the car seat with a footmuff?
Yes, provided the harness lies directly against the body. With our small footmuffs, the harnesses pass through the harness slots. Do not dress your baby in a thick jacket underneath, so the harness remains tight.
Is a lambskin footmuff suitable for newborns?
Yes. The Theo small footmuff is made of genuine lambskin, is windproof, and water-repellent. The front section can be detached, and you can then continue using the lambskin as a liner.
How long can you use a newborn footmuff?
Usually up to about 6 months, for as long as your baby fits in the infant car seat or carrycot. Afterward, you transition to a footmuff for the sports seat, or you can opt for the Felix 2.0 for 0 to 36 months right from the start.
How warmly should I dress my baby in the footmuff?
Inside the footmuff, normal clothing and a hat are sufficient; a thick snowsuit is not necessary. Check the nape of their neck periodically: warm and dry is correct; sweaty means too warm.
